Team Eagles Soar for a Cure Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
Hi there! Our team is Eagles Soar for Cure and we have been nominated to represent Chaminade Julienne in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year campaign. Thank you for visiting our fundraising page! LLS' Student Visionaries of the Year campaign is a seven-week leadership development program. The money we raise will help blood cancer patients not only survive but thrive after treatment.
As a team, we are competing against other schools in the Dayton area for the Student Visionaries of the Year campaign. The candidate whose team raises the most amount of money will earn the coveted title of "Student Visionary of the Year!" Will you support me on my fundraising journey and help me earn this title?
Meet Our Team:
Our team is made up 12 team members that range from CJ students to CJ parents. As a team, we hope to represent the core values of Chaminade Julienne while also supporting the fundraising efforts of LLS. All of the team members were nominated for their motivation and leadership skills.
Candidate: Paige Harsman
Team Members: Brynn Good, Isla Gilman, Sadie Lekan, Lily Kandel, Eli Joseph, Bridget Wolking, Lizzie Stouder, Lilly Lastowski, Marcia Harsman, Steve Harsman, and Erin Ketch.
About LLS:
LLS stands for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, a non-profit organization that funds research, provides patient services, and educates the public about blood cancer. Did you know LLS has invested more than $1.6 billion in the most pioneering science worldwide since 1949? LLS is dedicated to curing blood cancers, including leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma. They also work to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic, and prostate cancers.
All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
Our Why:
Every year, Dayton LLS choses one special hero to serve as symbol of strength, motivation, support, and determination. Meet Nolan O’Neil! He is an 20-month-old boy who lives in Springfield. He was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia when he was only 5 month old. He spent a month in the hospital while in treatment. His loving parents and family supported him the whole way. Nolan was a part of a clinical trial, which helped him overcome his cancer. Most clinical trials are funded by LLS. He has been in remission since March of 2024 and is doing so well!
Our candidate has recently had the chance to meet Nolan and his mom and hear about their journey. In addition, one of our team member’s cousins was diagnosed with Leukemia a few years ago. We are glad to say he is also currently cancer-free! Since our team has such a deep connection with children, we decided, together, to make Nolan our Team’s why and motivation. In addition, our team is planning on inviting Nolan and his parents to one of our fundraising events to spread awareness about blood cancer.
Please share the word about our fundraising campaign and encourage others to visit our fundraising page! Our team is also looking for businesses to sponsor us. If you know of a business that would be willing to sponsor, please contact our team candidate at: pharsman26@cjeagles.org.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org.
God Bless and Go Eagles!
